Using Wildcards in Page Targeting

Using Wildcards in Page Targeting

Follow this guide to learn how to use wildcards for page targeting in Poper. Wildcards allow you to create flexible and dynamic targeting rules to match multiple pages with similar URLs.

Steps to Set Up Wildcard Page Targeting:

Access Poper Dashboard:

Open your Poper dashboard.
Select the popup you want to edit or click on Add New to create a new popup.

Open Audience Filtering:

In the Popup Editor, go to the Audience Filtering option from the left-hand side menu.

Enable Page Targeting:

Scroll down until you find the Page Targeting section.
Turn on the Page Targeting option to start setting up your targeting rules.

Set Up Wildcard Targeting:

Wildcards use the asterisk (*) character to match zero or more characters in the Page Path.
For example, if you set a targeting option with the value "evo-gear/*", it will match all pages with URLs like "evo-gear/product-1", "evo-gear/product-2", "evo-gear/product-3", but not "evo-gear".

Add Targeting Rule:

Choose the condition, such as "Contains", from the dropdown menu.
Enter your wildcard pattern in the value field. For example, use "evo-gear/*" to target all pages under the "evo-gear" path.

Understanding Wildcards:

The asterisk (*) wildcard matches one or more characters.
Example:
"evo-gear/*" matches:
"evo-gear/product-1"
"evo-gear/product-2"
"evo-gear/product-3"
It does not match "evo-gear" directly.

Click on Add Rule button to apply the rule.

Save the Popup:

Click on the Save button to apply your settings.

Test Your Popup:

Visit your website and navigate to pages that should trigger the popup based on your wildcard rule.
Verify that the popup appears as expected on the targeted pages.

By following these steps, you can effectively use wildcards in Poper to target specific groups of pages with similar URLs. This powerful feature helps you create more precise and dynamic targeting rules for your popups.
